Hello Eversport Volleyball families. We have received some questions about what we will be offering this summer. We have a lot of ideas which we’d like to share with you. We ask that if you may be interested in any of them, please fill out the questionnaire and tell us. If there’s enough interest for a particular offering, then we’ll offer that activity. We are considering doing these activities outdoors on grass on weekend mornings or on a hardcourt indoors in a gym as we traditionally do. Each offering would probably have 4-8 sessions. Here’s the offerings we are considering along with descriptions.
General beginner/intermediate clinic (Beginners / Intermediate, rising 5th-9th graders)
This clinic is a general clinic targeted at beginners and intermediate players. It will focus on individual volleyball skills like bumping, serving, overhand swings, and setting. This is like the clinics we have offered in the winter and spring.
Specialized clinic: Rotations, formations, and positioning (Intermediate / Advanced, rising 6th-9th graders)
This clinic is targeted towards the player who has a good grasp of individual skills and is ready to learn more about the team game. Anybody who aims to play for their school team or for a club team will benefit from this clinic. You will learn the basics of 4-2, 6-2, and 5-1 formations as well as proper positioning on the court under different situations. This clinic is not for beginners or those who can’t keep up with instruction given to middle school level kids.
Specialized clinic: Bumping and receiving (Intermediate / Advanced, rising 6th-9th graders)
This clinic focuses on the most important skill in volleyball … bumping. This is not for beginners. It will be heavy in drills and repetition.
Specialized clinic: Overhand swings (Intermediate / Advanced, rising 6th-9th graders)
This clinic focuses on skills which require an overhand swing, such as overhand serves, downballs, and spiking. This is not for beginners. It will be heavy in drills and repetition.
League (Intermediate beginners - advanced, rising 6th-9th graders)
In our league, players are separated into teams based on skill level, as determined during an evaluation which happens in the first session. In subsequent sessions, teams in the same level will play against each other, culminating in playoffs at the end. All games will be refereed. Very little coaching takes place in league.
Open gym (Beginner/Intermediate)
Open gym (Intermediate/Advanced)
In open gym, players organize teams and games on their own. There is adult supervision, but there is no refereeing of games nor coaching.
If any of these are of interest to you for this summer, please fill out the questionnaire by May 17. Let us know if you have any questions.
